THE FOOD THAT WE SHOULD EAT

You may wonder that there were people written or mentioned in the Holy Bible that have lived long years, compared to our generation having a life span of only 70 to 80 years.

   We ate the flesh of animals and other creatures, and we have shorter lifespan.  Maestro Eraño M. Evangelista asks: Regarding the animals, for what purpose did God create them?

   Let us read it in the Holy Bible...

The tents of marauders are undisturbed,
and those who provoke God are secure—
those who carry their god in their hands.
"But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
Job 12:6-7 (NIV)

   It shows that animals have been instrumental in our technological advancement. Flight, we learned it from the birds and the insects; our ships and submarines, we learned from the fishes and others.

   And though we eat their meat:

Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.  The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands.
Genesis 9:1-2 (NIV)

   We were only given power over the animals and to learn from them.

Everything that lives and moves will be food for you.

Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
Genesis 9:3 (NIV)

   Though they were given permission to eat the meat of animals, they were tested if they really have understood God's commandment in Genesis 1:28-30 - "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food."

   What is its proof?   Will there be consequences?

"But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.  And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting.  I will demand an accounting from every animal.  And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.
"Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed;
for in the image of God has God made man.
Genesis 9:4-6 (NIV)

   Maestro Eraño M. Evangelista says: God has said it before that if we will eat the meat of animals, there will be consequences for us.  It was the time when people began to experience diseases related to the blood - hypertension, high blood pressure, cancer, and others.

   That is why, before this time with the people of Noah, from Adam to his descendants, they were eating vegetables and fruits of plants, their lifespan were longer:

When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth.  After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.  Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.

   This is the confirmation that when they observe and follow God's Commandments they have long lives.

   To give another example, which we have all known about:

When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech.  And after he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died.
Genesis 5:25-27 (NIV)

   This is the teaching that if man will return to God and start to eat vegetables and fruits of plants again, then the next generations will have longer lifespan.

   So, when men thought that God permitted them (in Genesis 9:1-6) to eat the meat of animals, they forgot the prohibitions.  That they will have to pay for the lifeblood of the flesh of the animals with their own blood, is it true?

The length of our days is seventy years -
or eighty, if we have the strength;
yet their span is but trouble and sorrow,
for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
Psalm 90:10 (NIV)

   Is it not the average lifespan of our present generation?  Maestro Eraño M. Evangelista says, we can still return to the time when man has longer lifespan, provided that we listen and understand God's Message.

   Is there a chance for us to regain our long lives?

"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.
Isaiah 65:17 (NIV)

   God had indeed promised it before, and no one knew about it then:

But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create,
for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight
and its people a joy.
Isaiah 65:18 (NIV)

   The city of Jerusalem already exists at the time this prophecy was given.  The general condition of the old city at present is not peaceful.  It would mean the prophecy refers to another city, a new Jerusalem.

I will rejoice over Jerusalem
and take delight in my people;
the sound of weeping and of crying
will be heard in it no more.
Isaiah 65:19 (NIV)

   This is the promise of God to his new people, no more suffering and death from diseases and calamities.  No more curse.

"Never again will there be in it
an infant who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not live out his years;
he who dies at a hundred
will be thought a mere youth;
he who fails to reach a hundred
will be considered accursed.
Isaiah 65:20 (NIV)

   This is the life full of blessing; longer life, and no more diseases and plagues. Bountiful and healthy city.

They will build houses and dwell in them;
they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
No longer will they build houses and others live in them,
or plant and others eat.
For as the days of a tree,
so will be the days of my people;
my chosen ones will long enjoy
the works of their hands.
Isaiah 65:21-22 (NIV)

   Now, we can start to eat the food God had told us before.  Let us eat vegetables and fruits of plants only!  We will live longer than the average lifespan.

   It will be a time of peace, security and prosperity.  Though the prophecy spoke of God's chosen ones, meaning there will be people who will not be chosen by God.

They will not toil in vain
or bear children doomed to misfortune;
for they will be a people blessed by the LORD,
they and their descendants with them.
Isaiah 65:23 (NIV)

   How will we know that God is with us this time?

Before they call I will answer;
while they are still speaking I will hear.
The wolf and the lamb will feed together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox,
but dust will be the serpent's food.
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,"
says the LORD.
Isaiah 65:24-25 (NIV)

   This is the time that God will answer our prayers.

   Peace and prosperity, this is the era promised by God, it will happen if we will return to the true God.

   What is the advantage of eating vegetables and fruits of plants?

Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, "Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink.  Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see."  So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.
At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.

   We leave you to ponder on this... If you want to have a long life, this is the way... it is up to you.
