Concerning Tithes
Maestro will reveal to us God's teaching regarding tithes and the giving of
alms...
"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'
"In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because
you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be
food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will
not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you
will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your
crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD
Almighty. Malachi 3:8-11 (NIV)
This is the confirmation that we have been under the curse.
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse" - God is instructing us to give
the tithes to the storehouse, not to the temples and churches.
Who is authorized to collect?
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no
authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have
been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is
rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring
judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but
for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in
authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's
servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the
sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on
the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only
because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why
you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time
to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if
revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Romans 13:1-7 (NIV)
The government doesn’t know that they have the sole authority to collect the
tithes and offerings.
The government authorities are the ministers of God! They collect the tithes
in the form of taxes, and the government in turn should keep the well being of
the people.
When the religions collected from the people along side the government, they
have taken away the wealth from the people - as a result the people were
overburdened, and since the religions were not subject to taxation, the economic
positions of nations were emaciated.
How much wealth the religions have taken from the people of the all the
nations for the past thousands of years?
The governments should consider this revelation.
Can the religions collect from the people?
To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life.
And who is equal to such a task? Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of
God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity,
like men sent from God. II Corinthians 2:16-17 (NIV)
The apostles say they are unlike the churches, or the religions of today. But
what do they use to convince the people?
For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle
when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On
the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not
be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to
such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. For even
when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall
not eat." II Thessalonians 3:7-10 (NIV)
They say they do work to be worthy to receive pay for their service.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such
sacrifices God is pleased. Hebrews 13:16 (NIV)
This is what they use to deceive people, "to share with others," – that the
religions will collect.
But to whom should we share our wealth with? Should we share it with the
religions?
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever
sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has
decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves
a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in
all things at all times; having all that you need, you will abound in every good
work. As it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever." Now he who supplies seed to the sower and
bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge
the harvest of your righteousness. II Corinthians 9:6-10 (NIV)
We should give to the poor, not to the religions!!!
What is the reason why God ask his people to give the tithes or the 10
percent to the needy and the poor?
When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third
year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the alien, the
fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
Then say to the LORD your God: "I have removed from my house the sacred portion
and have given it to the Levite, the alien, the fatherless and the widow,
according to all you commanded. I have not turned aside from your commands nor
have I forgotten any of them. Deuteronomy 26:12-13 (NIV)
Maestro Evangelista says, in our present time, no man can live by himself;
oftentimes we depend on other people. And there are times when people will come
to you to ask for some help, and that is the time also that you draw from the 10
percent that you have saved and give some to the person in need. You will never
know a time will come that you will be in need of another man’s help.
We earn in some way or another, so we should spend 90 percent for our daily
sustenance, and keep 10 percent as tithe, or our holy portion.
This is the real teaching regarding the offering of tithes in the Holy Bible.
